“Ladies and Gentlemen, all the children you see on stage are here because of their extraordinary ability and love of language - but only one of them can go on to compete in the National Spelling Bee!” In this raucous musical comedy, six enthusiastic mid-pubescents compete for the greatest win of their short lifetimes. Overseen by adults who aren’t much more mature than the spellers themselves, these young people have to learn that winning the bee isn’t necessarily the win that they’re looking for. And even if they lose, at least they get a juice box! Winner of the 2005 Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book.
