Adrian Silversmith
2001
I came to Lehigh University to join the swim team lead by Coach Chris Marshall. When I struggled academically my sophomore year, Coach Marshall urged me to explore new courses. I took an acting class and fell in love with the theatre. I brought my grades up, made the Dean’s list, and graduated a semester early in January 2001 with a major in Theatre and a minor in Communication.
The professors in the Department of Theatre really made me learn to think “outside the box,” propelling me into a career in sales and entrepreneurship. In 2014, I started my business, Sprelly, selling gourmet peanut butter. Everything I do –branding, engagement, company uniforms is influenced by my experience in the theatre.
If you are a Lehigh student considering getting involved in the theatre – do it! It will make your life fuller, richer, and your future self will thank you for it. Just because you study theatre doesn’t mean you have to be in theatre. I am a businessman and my theater experience was a major contributor to my success today!
