Lehigh’s Department of Theatre is reimagining what a B.A. in Theatre can be in the 21st century—a dynamic space where art, innovation, and social impact meet. We are a community of makers, scholars, and collaborators who see theatre as both an art form and a catalyst for change. Our program balances rigorous study of theatre history, theory, and performance with fearless artistic experimentation, preparing students to engage deeply with the world through bold, original work.

Our faculty are nationally recognized, award-winning artists—directors, designers, performers, and media creators whose professional work fuels what happens in the classroom and on stage. They are active practitioners and dedicated mentors who model what it means to make meaningful art in today’s world.

Together, faculty and students create work that could only happen here—original devised performances, reimagined classics, daring musicals, and multimedia collaborations that blur the boundaries between live theatre and technology. Every production is an act of exploration, shaped by the creativity and courage of the students at its center.

What sets us apart is our culture of collaboration and creative risk-taking. In rehearsal rooms, seminar spaces, and on our stages, students are treated as artistic partners. They ask questions, experiment with ideas, and discover how theatre can provoke thought, build empathy, and inspire transformation in the communities it serves.

The Department of Theatre is both a laboratory and a launchpad—a place where students gain craft, confidence, and the artistic courage to shape the future of theatre. Our graduates carry forward the values of collaboration, imagination, and integrity that define Lehigh Theatre—ready to make an impact on stages, in classrooms, and across industries worldwide.
