Who are We?

The Mustard and Cheese Drama Society has been a proud part of the Lehigh community since 1884, making it the second-oldest drama society in the nation. Founded less than 20 years after Lehigh first opened its doors—and more than a century before the Department of Theatre was established—Mustard and Cheese continues to build on its rich traditions by inviting today’s students to join in the creativity, community, and joy of theatre-making.

Learn more about our group's history and find out the answers to frequently asked questions like how our club got its name, when the first women were inducted, and how our club was founded over 100 years before the Department of Theatre was established.

Although we welcome anyone interested in theatre, our hope is for all active participants to become official club members by the end of their time at Lehigh. In addition to being a fun way to get connected, membership comes with quite a few perks!

Our Mission

Our mission is to not only uphold the traditions and principles on which the society was founded - to serve, support, and promote theatrical activity at Lehigh University - but also to create, support, and encourage projects in the theatre arts. Our goals include reaching out to the student body as well as members of the surrounding community, bringing theatre into their lives, and sparking their interest and participation in theatre at Lehigh University.
