Why Major or Minor in Theatre?
The Department of Theatre offers a Bachelor of Arts degree that invites students to think critically, collaborate boldly, and create work that engages with the world. Our program blends academic study with hands-on production experience, encouraging students to explore theatre as both an art form and a catalyst for change.
The B.A. in Theatre is flexible and interdisciplinary, making it an ideal major or minor for students pursuing multiple fields of study. Many of our students double major in areas such as engineering, business, psychology, or English—discovering how creative thinking and communication skills enrich every profession.
In classes and productions, students work side by side with faculty artists, professional guest designers and directors to explore a wide range of theatrical styles—from reimagined classics to new plays, devised works, and multimedia collaborations. Every project is a chance to experiment, take risks, and develop an authentic artistic voice.
Our facilities inside Zoellner Arts Center—including the 307-seat Diamond Theater and the Black Box Theater—offer students professional-quality spaces to build, perform, and innovate.
Graduates go on to distinguished careers as actors, directors, designers, educators, and arts leaders, as well as in fields such as law, marketing, communications, and education. No matter their path, they carry with them the creativity, collaboration, and confidence that define the Department of Theatre.
