Erica Hoelscher earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in stage design from Northwestern University and her bachelor’s in theatre from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. Hoelscher has designed over eighty theatrical productions at Lehigh University and nationally since joining the Lehigh faculty in 1995. She established the costume shop in the Zoellner Arts Center upon its opening. Her research is primarily in costume design, makeup design, and costume history, with a secondary specialty in scenic design. Hoelscher is Associate Artistic Director and Board Member of the Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium of Philadelphia, for whom she has designed costumes and scenery since 2010. Hoelscher’s portfolio includes many productions of African-American theatre, musical theatre, and Absurdism, and her research interests lie in historical reproduction and a dramaturgical approach to design. She has presented at the Costume Society of America Symposium.
