I wanted to study engineering in college and stay active in theatre. At Lehigh I found a vibrant theatre program open to all students. Initially, I was on the run crew for Noises Off and took a basic electrics class. I found my passion in the world of design and went on to earn my MFA from the University of Iowa in Lighting, Scenic, and Projection Design. I am currently employed in the Art Department for the 70th Annual Tony Awards.
The skills and techniques I learned in the Department of Theatre are critical to my success on a daily basis. The collaborative environment emphasizing communication, organization, and teamwork fostered my success. In every project I do I try to learn something new, making it impossible to feel uninspired or burnt out.
At Lehigh I was an actor, director, lighting designer, scenic designer, electrician, painter, carpenter, stage manager, and stitcher. Each one of these roles taught me about the world, built practical skills directly applicable to my goals, and gave me the courage to take the kind of risks that can change my life.
